How many pages in the Quran?

The standard Madinah mushaf has 604 pages. That is the answer most people are looking for, and the page count used by hifz students worldwide. But the Quran in your home might have a different number, and there is a simple reason why.

Last updated: 1 October 2026

The short answer

Pages (Madinah mushaf)604, with 15 lines per page
Surahs114
Ayat (verses)6,236 in the common Kufan count
Juz (parts)30, about 20 pages each
WordsRoughly 77,000

Why different Qurans have different page counts

The text of the Quran is the same in every mushaf. What changes is the layout: the size of the script, the number of lines on each page and the size of the page. The Madinah (Uthmani) mushaf, printed by the King Fahd Complex in Madinah, has 604 pages of 15 lines. Many UK homes and madrasas use IndoPak-script mushafs, which come in 13-line, 15-line and 16-line editions; their page counts differ from the Madinah print and from each other, depending on the publisher.

Pages per juz

In the Madinah mushaf, most juz are exactly 20 pages. The first juz runs a little longer (pages 1 to 21), and the last, Juz Amma, runs from page 582 to 604. Each juz is also split into two hizb and, in many prints, quarters. For more on these divisions, see our Quran glossary.

Using pages to plan reading and hifz

Hifz students count in pages because a 15-line page is a steady, predictable unit. Read more in our online hifz course, how long it takes to learn the Quran, or see our online Quran classes.

Frequently asked questions

How many pages are in the Quran?

The standard Madinah mushaf, printed by the King Fahd Complex, has 604 pages with 15 lines on each page. Other prints have different page counts because of their size and layout, but the text is the same.

How long is the Quran?

How long does it take to read the whole Quran?

At a steady pace, reading one juz aloud takes many people around 30 to 45 minutes, so a full reading takes roughly 15 to 25 hours. Reading one juz a day completes the Quran in 30 days, a common Ramadan goal.

How many pages is one juz?

About 20 pages in the Madinah mushaf. The first juz is 21 pages and the last (Juz Amma) about 23, because of how the pages fall.

About 20 pages, which is one juz a day. Four pages after each of the five daily prayers is a popular way to do it.
