Safeguarding: are online Quran classes safe for children?
Online Quran classes can be a very safe way for children to learn, because lessons happen at home with a parent close by. Safety still depends on clear rules. These are ours.
Our commitments to every family
- Lessons take place in your home, on a platform you already use, and a parent is free to sit in on any lesson.
- All arrangements go through the parent's phone or email, never the child's.
- Teachers never ask a child for personal details, photos or social media contact, and never arrange contact outside lessons.
- You can ask to change teacher at any time.
- Any concern you raise is taken seriously, and you can raise it with us directly, day or night.
How parents stay in control
For children, the parent or guardian books the lessons, receives the lesson link and chooses the teacher's gender. You decide which device your child uses and where they sit. If you would like to watch lessons, you are welcome to, for as long as you like.
Online safety tips for Quran lessons at home
- Set up lessons in a shared room rather than a bedroom, with the door open.
- Join lessons from your own account or link, so you know when and where your child is learning.
- Check the camera frame before the lesson starts.
- Teach your child never to share personal information, photos or passwords online, including in lesson chat.
- Tell your child that if anything ever makes them uncomfortable, they should stop and tell you straight away, and that they will not be in trouble.
