Online madrasa UK: a weekday routine at home
Many UK families want the routine of the local madrasa without the evening journey, the crowded classroom or the late finish. Our online madrasa gives your child a steady weekday rhythm of Quran and Islamic studies at home, one-to-one, with the same teacher each week.
One-to-one · 30-minute lessons · UK time · from £25 a month
How our online madrasa works
Your child has short, focused 30-minute lessons on the days you choose, straight after school or at another time that suits your family, in UK time. Lessons run on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. Because every lesson is one-to-one, your child never waits for a class to catch up or struggles to keep up with one.
Each week combines two parts:
- Quran: from the first letters in Noorani Qaida, to reading the mushaf in our Quran reading course, then tajweed and, for children who are ready, hifz.
- Islamic studies: the basics every child needs, taught at the right level for their age (see below).
You choose the number of days using our normal monthly plans (from £25 a month), and decide with the teacher how the days are split between Quran and Islamic studies.
A typical week
Here is one way families use the five-days-a-week plan. The split is entirely up to you and can change as your child progresses.
| Day | After school (30 minutes) |
|---|---|
| Monday | Quran: new lesson |
| Tuesday | Quran: new lesson and revision |
| Wednesday | Islamic studies |
| Thursday | Quran: new lesson |
| Friday | Quran revision and Islamic studies |
On the three-days-a-week plan, many families keep two Quran days and one Islamic studies day.
What children learn
Quran
- Arabic letters and their correct sounds, with tajweed from the first lesson.
- Fluent reading from the mushaf, working towards a first complete reading.
- Memorising short surahs for salah, often starting with the last surahs of Juz Amma.
Islamic studies
- Beliefs: who Allah is, the prophets, and the pillars of Islam and iman.
- Wudu and salah, step by step.
- Daily duas and adhkar.
- Stories from the life of the Prophet ﷺ.
- Islamic manners at home, at school and in the mosque.
Online madrasa or local madrasa?
The local madrasa offers something no website can: friendships, a community and a daily connection with the mosque. An online madrasa is strongest on individual attention, no travel and timings that fit family life. Many families combine the two. We compare them honestly in online Quran classes vs local madrassa for kids.

Frequently asked questions
What is an online madrasa?
An online madrasa is a regular weekly routine of Quran and Islamic studies lessons that a child takes from home over video, instead of travelling to a madrasa at the mosque. Ours is one-to-one, so each child learns at their own level with their own teacher.
Is it one-to-one or a group class?
One-to-one. Every lesson is 30 minutes with one child and one teacher. Brothers and sisters each have their own lessons, with 10% off each additional child.
How many days a week should my child attend?
Most families choose three to five days a week, the same rhythm as many mosque madrasas. Three days suits younger children or busy terms; five days suits children aiming to finish the Qaida quickly or start hifz.
Can a parent watch the lessons?
Yes. A parent is welcome to sit in on any lesson, and we recommend it for younger children. See our safeguarding commitments.
Can my daughter have a female teacher?
Yes. Choose a female teacher when you book the free trial.
