Hifz planner: how long will it take to memorise the Quran?
Choose how much you already know, how much you will memorise each day and how many days a week. The planner estimates how long your hifz will take, with revision built in, based on the 604-page Madinah mushaf.
Plan your hifz
How the estimate works
The planner takes the pages left to memorise and divides them by the pages you add each week (daily amount × days a week). It then adds your revision-only weeks for each year of the plan, because nobody memorises every week of the year. The Madinah mushaf has 15 lines on each of its 604 pages, with about 20 pages in each juz.
The estimate does not include daily revision time, which runs alongside new memorisation: new lesson (sabaq), recent revision (sabaq para) and older revision (manzil).
Making the plan realistic
- Start smaller than you think. Half a page a day that you keep beats two pages you forget.
- Protect revision. As you memorise more, revision takes a larger share of each day.
- Recite to a teacher. Mistakes memorised early are hard to remove.
- Review the plan each term. Adjust your pace up or down with your teacher.
