About Quran Lessons Online UK
We are an online Quran academy based in Birmingham, teaching children and adults one-to-one across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Who we are
Quran Lessons Online UK teaches the Quran through live, one-to-one video lessons. Our office is at 536 Stratford Road, Birmingham B11 4AJ, and every lesson takes place online, so a family in Glasgow, Cardiff or Belfast learns in exactly the same way as a family in Birmingham.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it." (Sahih al-Bukhari 5027). That is the work we have chosen.
What we teach
We teach every stage of learning the Quran, from the first letter to a certified sanad:
- Noorani Qaida: children and adults who cannot yet read arabic letters.
- Quran Reading (Nazra): learners who know the letters but read slowly.
- Tajweed: anyone who reads but wants to fix pronunciation.
- Hifz (Memorisation): children and adults memorising surahs, juz or the whole quran.
- Ijazah: fluent reciters seeking a certified chain of transmission.
- Quranic Arabic: learners who want to understand what they recite.
- Tafseer & Translation: adults and older students.
- Islamic Studies: children, teens, reverts and families.
How we teach
One learner, one teacher. Lessons last 30 minutes and are held in UK time on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. Every new learner starts with three days of free lessons, during which the teacher finds the right starting point. Our approach to placement, tajweed and hifz is set out in our teaching standards.
Who we teach
Children from their first Qaida lesson, teenagers catching up, adults who never had the chance to learn, sisters who prefer a female teacher, reverts starting from the alphabet, and fluent reciters working towards hifz or ijazah. Lessons are taught in English, and we can match learners with a teacher who explains in Urdu, Arabic, Bengali or another major language.
