Quran classes for families in Yorkshire and the Humber

West and South Yorkshire have some of England's largest Muslim communities, in Bradford, Leeds, Kirklees and Sheffield. But the region also covers the Dales, the North York Moors and the coast, where families in towns such as Whitby, Bridlington, Ripon or Northallerton may have no madrasa nearby at all.

For those families, one-to-one online lessons are often the only realistic way to give children regular Quran teaching with tajweed.

In West Yorkshire, many children already attend a daily madrasa. In North Yorkshire and on the coast, families are often far from one. Online lessons can add focused one-to-one help in the first case and replace the journey in the second.

Planning lessons around school and salah in Yorkshire and the Humber

In December, Maghrib in Yorkshire falls before 4pm, so many children pray first and begin their lesson shortly after getting home from school.

English schools usually break up in the second half of July and return in early September. In Leeds, Maghrib moves from 15:46 in late December to 21:40 in late June; in Ramadan 2027, expected to begin around 8 February, iftar runs from about 16:59 to 17:56.
