Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity

The Quran is clear that each person is asked only for what they are able to do: “Allah does not burden any soul beyond what it can bear” (Al-Baqarah 2:286). And the Prophet ﷺ said that the one who recites the Quran with difficulty, stumbling over it, receives a double reward (Sahih al-Bukhari 4937, Sahih Muslim 798). For a child who finds learning hard, every letter is worth the effort.

Al-Baqarah 2:286. Arabic: Tanzil (Uthmani, Hafs)

How lessons are adapted

What we doWhy it helps
The same teacher every timeFamiliar faces and a predictable routine matter for many children. Your child keeps one teacher, at the same days and times each week.
One-to-one, at homeNo classroom noise, no other children, no journey. Your child learns in a place they already feel safe, with you nearby.
A pace set by your childThere is no class to keep up with. If a letter takes three weeks instead of three days, that is fine; the teacher moves on only when your child is ready.
Small steps, repeated oftenLessons can focus on one letter, one sound or one short verse at a time, with plenty of repetition and praise.
Room for breaksWithin the 30 minutes, the teacher can pause, change activity or let your child move about. Tell us what helps your child settle.
Parents in the lessonYou can sit beside your child for every lesson, help them focus and share what works at home.

Working with parents

You know your child best. Before lessons start, we ask about how your child learns, what helps them focus, what upsets them and what they enjoy. During lessons, you are welcome beside them, and the teacher tells you after each lesson what was covered and what to practise. Many families find a few minutes of practice each day, with a parent, works better than longer sessions.

Our teachers are Quran teachers, not therapists or SEN specialists. We work alongside the support your child already has at school or elsewhere, and we will always tell you honestly if we think we are not the right fit.

Where children usually start

Safe, open lessons

Lessons happen at home, with a parent welcome in every one, and teachers never contact children outside lessons. Read our safeguarding commitments and teaching standards. Girls can learn with a female teacher.

Frequently asked questions

Which children can you teach?

We welcome children and adults with a wide range of additional needs, including learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, dyslexia and speech or hearing differences. Every child is different, so please talk to us first: we will tell you honestly how we can help and arrange a trial so you can see for yourself.

Are your teachers SEN specialists?

Our teachers are qualified Quran teachers, and every one of them holds an ijazah. They are not therapists or SEN professionals. What we offer is patient, one-to-one teaching, adapted with you to suit your child, alongside any support your child already receives.

How long is each lesson?

Lessons are booked as 30-minute one-to-one slots, the same as all our courses. Within that time, the teacher can include breaks and change activities as your child needs. If a different arrangement would work better, ask us before booking.

Is it the same price as other lessons?

Yes. Plans start from £25 a month, the first three days are free, and brothers and sisters get 10% off.

Will my child be expected to memorise or recite perfectly?

No. Goals are set with you. For some children that is learning the letters, for others short surahs for salah, and for others simply listening and repeating. Every bit of effort with the Quran is rewarded.
