Quran classes for families in Eastbourne
About 2,300 Eastbourne residents, 2.2% of the town, are Muslim according to the 2021 census, with families of many backgrounds, from long-settled households to newer arrivals.
Eastbourne is a seaside town beneath the South Downs, and many parents work in the hospital, in care, in the language schools or in hospitality.
With only a small number of classes in town, families in Polegate, Willingdon and the villages often have no regular class nearby.
Parents working shifts in health and care can move lesson days by arrangement, and children keep the same teacher.
One-to-one lessons for a small community
In a smaller community, finding the right teacher, such as a female teacher or one who explains in Arabic or Bengali, can be hard locally. Online, families can choose the teacher who suits them, from Noorani Qaida to tajweed.
