Quran classes for families in Epsom
About 3,900 Epsom and Ewell residents, almost 5% of the borough, are Muslim according to the 2021 census. After English, Urdu is among the most common languages spoken at home, alongside families of Arab, Iranian, African and many other backgrounds.
Epsom is famous for its racecourse and the Derby, and the borough is a commuter area on the edge of south-west London, with hospital, university and office workers as well as London commuters.
Most local classes are in neighbouring Sutton and Kingston, a drive away at rush hour on a school night.
Busy school timetables and commuting parents make a 30-minute lesson at home easier to keep than an evening class in another borough.
Urdu-speaking teachers for Epsom families
Urdu-speaking teachers can explain in the family language when that helps, while most lessons run in English. Children can move from Noorani Qaida to reading the Quran with the same teacher.
