Hadith and the Quran

The Quran and the Sunnah go together: the Prophet ﷺ explained and lived the Quran. A child who knows a few hadith understands why we pray, give charity and speak kindly. Pair these with duas for kids and stories of the prophets, and see how to motivate your child to learn Quran. Our Islamic studies lessons teach hadith with meanings in English, Urdu, Arabic or Bengali.

Frequently asked questions

What is a hadith?

A hadith is a report of what the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, did or approved. Hadith are collected in books such as Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, and they explain how to live by the Quran.

Are these hadith authentic?

Yes. Each is from Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, or a hadith graded authentic or good (hasan) by hadith scholars, and the reference is given so you can check it. The wording is a simple English meaning, not a word-for-word translation.

How can I teach hadith to my child?

Pick one hadith a week, put it on the fridge, and look for chances to live it: say “a smile is charity” when they smile at a sibling. Ask them to tell you the hadith at dinner.
