How to memorise them

  1. Start from the end. Begin with An-Nas, Al-Falaq and Al-Ikhlas, then work backwards to Al-Fil. The shortest come first.
  2. Listen before you memorise. Hear the surah several times from a reciter with good tajweed, then read it from the mushaf.
  3. One verse at a time. Repeat a verse until you can say it without looking, then add the next and recite both together.
  4. Use it straight away. Recite the new surah in your next prayer. Prayer is the best revision.
  5. Have it checked. Mistakes memorised early are hard to remove, so recite to someone who knows tajweed.

Children can usually learn one of these surahs a week; adults often faster. Then move on to the rest of Juz Amma. For a full method, see how to memorise the Quran; to memorise with a teacher, see our online hifz course or estimate a timeline with the hifz planner.
