The opening of Luqman’s advice

“And when Luqman said to his son while he was advising him: O my son, do not associate anything with Allah. Indeed, association is a great injustice.”Luqman 31:13 (meaning). Arabic: Tanzil (Uthmani, Hafs)

And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys.”Luqman 31:17–19 (meaning). Arabic: Tanzil (Uthmani, Hafs)

A model for parents

Luqman speaks to his son as “ya bunayya”, my dear son: warmly, with reasons, and starting with the most important thing. It is a model for teaching children about faith at home; see how to teach children to pray and how to motivate your child to learn Quran. Verse 14 pairs with the du‘as in dua for parents.
